Wesson Home The Four Oils Recipes Retrospective
When it comes to eating healthy, cooking with oils does not always come to mind. Many do not realize that you do not have to eliminate the foods you love just because they contain cooking oils. In fact, some cooking oils actually have health benefits. After recently receiving a qualified health claim from U.S. Food & Drug Administration, you will be pleasantly surprised to learn:

  • Canola oil is lowest in cholesterol-raising saturated fats – even lower than olive oil

  • Canola oil may promote heart health by decreasing LDL or "bad" cholesterol

  • Canola oil provides essential fatty acids that may promote healthy skin, hair and nails

  • Canola oil contains polyphenols, a group of powerful antioxidants

  • Wesson Oils contain zero grams of trans fat per serving and are naturally cholesterol-free

  • USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that most fats in a balanced diet should come from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, such as fish, nuts and vegetable oils like canola oil.

  • Create zesty, homemade salad dressing with canola oil because it does not separate from other ingredients and has a light color and taste.

  • Healthier breakfast and snack options for kids are now easier than ever. Add a twist to one of kids favorite foods by making peanut butter and jelly muffins with heart-healthy canola oil.

  • Use Wesson Canola Oil when baking chicken or French fries. Simply pat the chicken with oil and roll in cracker crumbs before baking to seal in the meats juices. Chicken does not need to be fried to get that tasty, crispy texture.

Qualified Health Claim

Limited and not conclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating about 1 1/2 tablespoons (19 grams) of canola oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the unsaturated fat content in canola oil. To achieve this possible benefit, canola oil is to replace a similar amount of saturated fat and not increase the total number of calories you eat in a day. One serving of this product contains 14 grams of canola oil. See nutritional information on label for total fat content.
